Inspecting Mounted Tyres
Routine inspections are strongly recommended for rider safety and long-term tyre economy. The frequency of inspection should depend on your vehicle usage, load, and typical road conditions.
1. Treadwear & Depth
Inspect tread depth visually on a regular basis. Tyres must be removed from service when the tread has worn down to the base of any groove at any spot, or to the minimum legal depth specified by your vehicle manufacturer.
● Replacement Limit: A tyre can remain in service with minimal groove depth only long enough to safely reach a service center—provided the top ply cord is not exposed or worn through. Continuing to ride beyond these safety limits may render the tyre unsafe or cause sudden failure.
● Uneven Wear: If treadwear is excessive on one side, the tyre can be demounted and reversed on the rim (flipping), provided there is no exposed fabric and the casing remains intact.
⚠️ WARNING: Never probe cracks, cuts, or embedded foreign objects while the tyre is inflated. Doing so may cause the object to become a projectile or lead to a sudden explosion, resulting in severe or fatal injury.

Best Practices for Inflation
- Check Daily When Cold: Always measure pressure at ambient temperature before riding. Air pressure increases by roughly 1% for every 3°C (5°F) rise in temperature during operation.
- Never Bleed Hot Tyres: Never release air pressure from a hot tyre. Hot tyres with pressures exceeding 200% of their cold-rated pressure must be removed from service.
- Account for Load: Air volume drops under weight. Increase unloaded pressure settings by 4% when operating under heavy load.
- Allow a 12-Hour Stretch: Newly mounted tyres (especially bias-ply) stretch after initial installation. Allow 12 hours post-mounting to settle, then recheck and adjust pressure before putting into service.
- Keep Front & Rear Balanced: Ensure front and rear tyres are inflated to their respective specified pressures so the load is distributed evenly across the vehicle setup.
